Watch her story

From a young age, Emma had an undeniable passion for horses, some might even call it an obsession. Her dream of riding became a reality when she won a competition by the television show, ‘The Saddle Club’ at just 11 years old, earning her a pony and riding lessons for a year. Competing in small events soon followed, and her talent shone through. In 2011 this exceptional talent led her to take on a position with renowned dressage athlete Holger Schulze in Germany

However, in April 2013, Emma’s life took an unexpected turn after a life-altering car accident. Despite the immense challenges associated with becoming a paraplegic and recovering from the serious injuries obtained. Emma’s determination to ride again never wavered. Discovering Para-equestrian opportunities from her hospital bed, she set her sights on representing Australia in the 2016 Paralympic Games. This courage and tenacity saw Emma back in the saddle a mere 6 months after her accident.

Emma fulfilled her dream, competing in two events at the Rio Paralympics and finishing an impressive 5th place. At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, she and her trusted companion ‘Mogelvangs Zidane’ made history as the first-ever combination to represent Australia in two Paralympic Games.
